FOUR THINGS RIGHT NOW

Class management chart

I made this a month ago and we are all excited about it. Students' names are on clothespins. It gives them the opportunity to come back from bad behavior.

Band aids and doggy for my felt board

It took me just an hour and no sewing at all! It is perfect for learning the parts of the body.

Window decor in December

We made these stained glass mittens and Christmas trees using tissue paper, contact paper and black cardboard. It turned out to be super fun.

Rudolph: two versions

Googly eyes, felt, pipe cleaners, cothespins, crayons and voila!!

QUIET BOOK: SHAPES

I've finished my first ever quiet book and I'm super duper excited!!The book is not perfect ( irregular blanket stitch, terrible problems attaching velcro, binding the book was a bit of a headache,..) but I'm very happy with the final result.  All the pages were inspired by things I found online, mostly Pinterest.

When I teach my students the shapes I want them to learn the nursery rhyme The Wheels on the Bus, so I sewed these pages.

This led me to a new felt project: Rhyme Time. I'm now working on a felt book containing some of the most famous nursery rhymes and songs.

Thanks for reading my little blog!

FELT ADDICTION: Old MacDonald Had a Farm

E-I-E-I-O!! Here is my newest felt creation! I'm looking forward to seeing my students' faces when we use it. It was time-consuming but well worth the effort. I've taken the idea from one of my favourite blogs: Emilia Keriene.

                                                                    I hope you like it!

FIVE LITTLE MONKEYS: FINGER PUPPETS. PLEASE, LEAVE FEEDBACK!

This is one of my favourite songs and kids want to sing it almost every lesson. Last year, I made a set of finger puppets using wool and a glove but they weren't very resistant ( they are now eyeless, tummyless and earless.) So, I decided to make a new set with felt and this is the result of an afternoon's work:

I'm not the best at sewing, but I've successfully made the whole set. Have a look at the poor monkey below!!

I think I won't use the small finger crocodile as it can't SNAP! the monkeys. So, I'll be using my long-trusted silicon pot holder instead.

SUPPLIES:

  • Templates ( I drew them myself)
  • Felt
  • googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Fabric glue (for the eyes)
  • a needle
  • some thread

Here is your rhyme:

Five little monkeys sitting in a tree,
Along comes Mr. Crocodile as hungry as can be,
"Hello, Mr. Crocodile, you can't catch me, you can't catch me!"
"SNAP!"

Repeat with:

Four little monkeys...
Three little monkeys...
Two little monkeys...
One little monkey...

I hope you find it useful. Please, leave feedback!!! I very much appreciate your comments.

SUMMER CRAFTS (PRIMARY AND YOUNG LEARNERS)

I've recently discovered KIWICRATE and it has turned out to be one of my favourite sites when looking for imaginative crafts. Actually, KIWICRATE is an art and craft kit for kids that is delivered to you every month. I haven't tried it yet, but they have a DIY section with tons of great ideas that I've been using over the  past few weeks. These are some pics of my students' finished projects:

CARDBOARD TUBE OCTOPUS

PIPE CLEANER CROWN

JELLYFISH IN A BOTTLE

It may be worth to have a peek at KIWICRATE if you like integrating arts and crafts into your lessons. This way you can create  activities and lessons that your students will just love!
